but exercising complete faith in the words of Jesus Christ.

The water baptism of John was for the purpose of announcing the arrival of the promised Christ [God's Anointed One]. It is our baptism by Holy Spirit, the expressing of faith in what we personally know to be the words of Christ, is why the water baptism of John even existed: To be a sign of our need for faith. (Acts 1:4-5) It is being reborn by your expression of faith in Christ's words that is important today... (John 6:63)

Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us.
