This is a prophecy about the appearance of Jesus Christ [as Messiah or Anointed One] and his death at the hands of God's enemies. Many men have dedicated their lives to the understanding of this prophecy. It mentions 69 weeks and 1 week, or 70 weeks, but most scholars believe that to be 70 weeks of years (as a day for a year - Num 14:34 of 26-34) or 483 and 490 years respectively. [The last week of years (or the first half of that last week of years), between 483rd and 490th years having special meaning about what the Christ would accomplish.]
The Hebrew, and thus the only, Scriptural Name
of the God of Creation is יהוה!
Daniel 9:20-27 MWT ...I was still confessing my sins and those of all Israel to יהוה my God, and I was praying for the good of his holy mountain, (21) when Gabriel suddenly came flying in at the time of the evening sacrifice. This was the same Gabriel I had seen in my vision, (22) and he explained: Daniel, I am here to help you understand the vision. (23) God thinks highly of you, and at the very moment you started praying, I was sent to give you the answer. (24) God has decided that for seventy weeks, your people and your holy city must suffer as the price of their sins.
Seventy Weeks Prophecy!
Fortelling the appearance of Messiah...
Then evil will disappear, and justice will rule forever; (2 Pet 3:10) the visions and words of the prophets will come true, and a most holy place will be dedicated. (Rev 21:1-4) (25) You need to realize that from the command to rebuild Jerusalem until the coming of the Chosen Leader, it will be seven weeks and another sixty-two weeks. Streets will be built in Jerusalem, and a trench will be dug around the city for protection, but these will be difficult times. (26) At the end of the sixty-two weeks, the Chosen Leader will be killed and left with nothing. (Dan 9:26) A foreign ruler and his army will sweep down like a mighty flood, leaving both the city and the temple in ruins, and war and destruction will continue until the end, just as God has decided. (27) For one week this foreigner will make a firm agreement with many people, and halfway through this week, he will end all sacrifices and offerings. Then the "Horrible Thing" that causes destruction will be put there. And it will stay there until the time God has decided to destroy this one who destroys.
Daniel 9:20-27 Calvin 1856 ...(20) And while I was yet speaking, and praying, and confessing my sins, and those of my people Israel, and while I was speaking my petition before Jehovah (יהוה) my God, on behalf of the mountain of the sanctuary of my God; (21) Even, while I was yet uttering my prayer, The man Gabriel, whom I had before seen in a vision, flying swiftly, Touched me about the time of the evening sacrifice. (22) Then he taught me, and spoke to me, and said, O Daniel, I have now come forth, to afford thee needful information. (23) At the beginning of thy prayers the word went forth, which I am come to declare, because thou art greatly beloved: Attend therefore to the word, and understand the vision. (24) Seventy weeks have been determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to close up wickedness, and seal up sin, and expiate iniquity, and bring in eternal righteousness, (2 Pet 3:10) and seal up the vision and the prophecy, and anoint the holy of holies. (Rev 21:1-4) (25) Take notice therefore and understand, From the going forth of the word concerning the return of the people, And the rebuilding of Jerusalem to Messiah the Leader, Seventy weeks, and sixty-two weeks; then the people shall be brought back, And the street and the wall shall be rebuilt, and that too amidst the perplexities (or "in the narrow limit") of the times. (26) Then after the sixty—two weeks, Christ shall be cut off, and become nothing: The people of the coming leader shall destroy the city and the sanctuary: Its end shall be with an inundation: And at the close of the war a completion of desolation's. (27) And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week; And for half a week he shall cause the sacrifice and offering to cease; And upon the spreading of abominations he shall be astonished, And at the close, he shall pour the full accomplishment upon the desolator.
Daniel 9:20-27 GW ...I continued to pray, confessing my sins and the sins of my people Israel. I humbly placed my request about my God's holy mountain in front of the LORD (יהוה) my God. (21) While I was praying, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the first vision, came to me about the time of the evening sacrifice. He was exhausted. (22) He informed me, "Daniel, this time I have come to give you insight. (23) As soon as you began to make your request, a reply was sent. I have come to give you the reply because you are highly respected. So study the message, and understand the vision. (24) "Seventy sets of seven time periods have been assigned for your people and your holy city. These time periods will serve to bring an end to rebellion, (2 Pet 3:10) to stop sin, to forgive wrongs, to usher in everlasting righteousness, to put a seal on a prophet's vision, and to anoint the Most Holy One. (Rev 21:1-4) (25) Learn, then, and understand that from the time the command is given to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the anointed prince comes, seven sets of seven time periods and sixty-two sets of seven time periods will pass. Jerusalem will be restored and rebuilt with a city square and a moat during the troubles of those times. (26) But after the sixty-two sets of seven time periods, the Anointed One will be cut off and have nothing. The city and the holy place will be destroyed with the prince who is to come. His end will come with a flood until the end of the destructive war that has been determined. (27) He will confirm his promise with many for one set of seven time periods. In the middle of the seven time periods, he will stop the sacrifices and food offerings. This will happen along with disgusting things that cause destruction until those time periods come to an end. It has been determined that this will happen to those who destroy the city."
Daniel 9:20-27 NWT ...20 While I was yet speaking and praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and letting my request for favor fall before Jehovah (יהוה) my God concerning the holy mountain of my God, 21 and [while] I was yet speaking in the prayer, why, the man Ga´bri·el, whom I had seen in the vision at the start, having been made weary with tiredness, was arriving by me at the time of the evening gift offering. 22 And he proceeded to impart understanding and speak with me and say: “O Daniel, now I have come forth to make you have insight with understanding. 23 At the start of your entreaties a word went forth, and I myself have come to make report, because you are someone very desirable. So give consideration to the matter, and have understanding in the thing seen. 24 “There are seventy weeks that have been determined upon your people and upon your holy city, in order to terminate the transgression, and to finish off sin, (2 Pet 3:10) and to make atonement for error, and to bring in righteousness for times indefinite, and to imprint a seal upon vision and prophet, and to anoint the Holy of Holies. (Rev 21:1-4) 25 And you should know and have the insight [that] from the going forth of [the] word to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem until Mes·si´ah [the] Leader, there will be seven weeks, also sixty-two weeks. She will return and be actually rebuilt, with a public square and moat, but in the straits of the times. 26 “And after the sixty-two weeks Mes·si´ah will be cut off, with nothing for himself. “And the city and the holy place the people of a leader that is coming will bring to their ruin. And the end of it will be by the flood. And until [the] end there will be war; what is decided upon is desolations. 27 “And he must keep [the] covenant in force for the many for one week; and at the half of the week he will cause sacrifice and gift offering to cease. “And upon the wing of disgusting things there will be the one causing desolation; and until an extermination, the very thing decided upon will go pouring out also upon the one lying desolate.”
Daniel 9:20-27 GNB ...I went on praying, confessing my sins and the sins of my people Israel and pleading with the LORD (יהוה) my God to restore his holy Temple. (21) While I was praying, Gabriel, whom I had seen in the earlier vision, came flying down to where I was. It was the time for the evening sacrifice to be offered. (22) He explained, "Daniel, I have come here to help you understand the prophecy. (23) When you began to plead with God, he answered you. He loves you, and so I have come to tell you the answer. Now pay attention while I explain the vision. (24) "Seven times seventy years is the length of time God has set for freeing your people and your holy city from sin and evil. Sin will be forgiven and eternal justice established, so that the vision and the prophecy will come true, and the holy Temple will be rededicated. (Rev 21:1-4) (25) Note this and understand it: From the time the command is given to rebuild Jerusalem until God's chosen leader comes, seven times seven years will pass. Jerusalem will be rebuilt with streets and strong defenses, and will stand for seven times sixty-two years, but this will be a time of troubles. (26) And at the end of that time God's chosen leader will be killed unjustly. The city and the Temple will be destroyed by the invading army of a powerful ruler. The end will come like a flood, bringing the war and destruction which God has prepared. (27) That ruler will have a firm agreement with many people for seven years, and when half this time is past, he will put an end to sacrifices and offerings. The Awful Horror will be placed on the highest point of the Temple and will remain there until the one who put it there meets the end which God has prepared for him."

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
