Matthew 7:13-23 CEV . . .Go in through the narrow gate. The gate to destruction is wide, and the road that leads there is easy to follow. A lot of people go through that gate. (14) But the gate to life is very narrow. The road that leads there is so hard to follow that only a few people find it. (15) Watch out for false prophets! They dress up like sheep, but inside they are wolves who have come to attack you. (16) You can tell what they are by what they do. No one picks grapes or figs from thornbushes. (17) A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. (18) A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit. (19) Every tree that produces bad fruit will be chopped down and burned. (20) You can tell who the false prophets are by their deeds. (21) Not everyone who calls me their Lord will get into the kingdom of heaven. Only the ones who obey my Father in heaven will get in. (22) On the day of judgment many will call me their Lord. They will say, "We preached in your name, and in your name we forced out demons and worked many miracles." (23) But I will tell them, "I will have nothing to do with you! Get out of my sight, you evil people!"

This is one of Jesus's many warnings about avoiding false prophets and false Christ's. (Mat 24:21-28) He said we identify false Christians by their fruits. He said we work the works of God was putting faith in the words of Christ. (John 6:28-29) God's only later day command is for us to listen to Jesus. (Mat 17:5 and John 1:12; 8:26 and 15:15) We are Christians if we are followers of Jesus... Bad fruit is thus working to get you to follow some sect of men, making you believe you need them in your life in order to know God. You don't! (Mark 3:31-35 Plus) You need to know Jesus by your own personal familiarity with his words... Let me say again, anyone trying to get you to believe you need to follow their sect is offering you bad fruit. (Gal 1:6-9) Jesus further warned in verses 22 and 23 about those who would try and imagine they were Christians when they weren't. Religionist's saying their sectarian memberships are your hope and protection is who he was warning about!

Matthew 7:13-23 GNB . . ."Go in through the narrow gate, because the gate to hell is wide and the road that leads to it is easy, and there are many who travel it. (14) But the gate to life is narrow and the way that leads to it is hard, and there are few people who find it. (15) "Be on your guard against false prophets; they come to you looking like sheep on the outside, but on the inside they are really like wild wolves. (16) You will know them by what they do. Thorn bushes do not bear grapes, and briers do not bear figs. (17) A healthy tree bears good fruit, but a poor tree bears bad fruit. (18) A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a poor tree cannot bear good fruit. (19) And any tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown in the fire. (20) So then, you will know the false prophets by what they do. Matthew (21) "Not everyone who calls me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only those who do what my Father in heaven wants them to do. (22) When the Judgment Day comes, many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord! In your name we spoke God's message, by your name we drove out many demons and performed many miracles!' (23) Then I will say to them, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you wicked people!'

Matthew 7:13-23 ESV . . ."Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. (14) For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. (15) "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. (16) You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? (17) So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. (18) A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. (19) Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. (20) Thus you will recognize them by their fruits. (21) "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (22) On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' (23) And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'

Matthew 7:13-23 GW . . ."Enter through the narrow gate because the gate and road that lead to destruction are wide. Many enter through the wide gate. (14) But the narrow gate and the road that lead to life are full of trouble. Only a few people find the narrow gate. (15) "Beware of false prophets. They come to you disguised as sheep, but in their hearts they are vicious wolves. (16) You will know them by what they produce. "People don't pick grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles, do they? (17) In the same way every good tree produces good fruit, but a rotten tree produces bad fruit. (18) A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a rotten tree cannot produce good fruit. (19) Any tree that fails to produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into a fire. (20) So you will know them by what they produce. (21) "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord!' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the person who does what my Father in heaven wants. (22) Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name? Didn't we force out demons and do many miracles by the power and authority of your name?' (23) Then I will tell them publicly, 'I've never known you. Get away from me, you evil people.'

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
