Matthew 21:33-41 GW "Listen to another illustration. A landowner planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, made a winepress, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to vineyard workers and went on a trip. (34) "When the grapes were getting ripe, he sent his servants to the workers to collect his share of the produce. (35) The workers took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned a third to death. (36) So the landowner sent more servants. But the workers treated them the same way. (37) "Finally, he sent his son to them. He thought, 'They will respect my son.' (38) "When the workers saw his son, they said to one another, 'This is the heir. Let's kill him and get his inheritance.' (39) So they grabbed him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. (40) "Now, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those workers?" (41) They answered, "He will destroy those evil people. Then he will lease the vineyard to other workers who will give him his share of the produce when it is ready."
These Verses relate to the rejection by God of the fleshly natural blood line nation of Israel; and the Creation of the new "Spiritual Israel" of God. (Galatians 6:16 of 12-16) The Jews refused to honor and worship the God who made them his special nation, and so he rejected them as a fleshly nation and made his "New Creation" consisting of all who put faith in Christ. Jews and Gentiles all alike, are made Abraham's descendants by faith. (Gal 3:26-29)
Matthew 21:33-41 CEV Jesus told the chief priests and leaders to listen to this story: A land owner once planted a vineyard. He built a wall around it and dug a pit to crush the grapes in. He also built a lookout tower. Then he rented out his vineyard and left the country. (34) When it was harvest time, the owner sent some servants to get his share of the grapes. (35) But the renters grabbed those servants. They beat up one, killed one, and stoned one of them to death. (36) He then sent more servants than he did the first time. But the renters treated them in the same way. (37) Finally, the owner sent his own son to the renters, because he thought they would respect him. (38) But when they saw the man's son, they said, "Someday he will own the vineyard. Let's kill him! Then we can have it all for ourselves." (39) So they grabbed him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. (40) Jesus asked, "When the owner of that vineyard comes, what do you suppose he will do to those renters?" (41) The chief priests and leaders answered, "He will kill them in some horrible way. Then he will rent out his vineyard to people who will give him his share of grapes at harvest time."
Matthew 21:33-41 GNB "Listen to another parable," Jesus said. "There was once a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a hole for the wine press, and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to tenants and left home on a trip. (34) When the time came to gather the grapes, he sent his slaves to the tenants to receive his share of the harvest. (35) The tenants grabbed his slaves, beat one, killed another, and stoned another. (36) Again the man sent other slaves, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them the same way. (37) Last of all he sent his son to them. 'Surely they will respect my son,' he said. (38) But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, 'This is the owner's son. Come on, let's kill him, and we will get his property!' (39) So they grabbed him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. (40) "Now, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?" Jesus asked. (41) "He will certainly kill those evil men," they answered, "and rent the vineyard out to other tenants, who will give him his share of the harvest at the right time."

(34) When the season for fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to get his fruit. (35) And the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another. (36) Again he sent other servants, more than the first. And they did the same to them. (37) Finally he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.' (38) But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.'
