Luke 16:27-31 ESV . . .And he said, 'Then I beg you, father, to send him [Lazarus] to my father's house-- (28) for I have five brothers--so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.' (29) But Abraham said, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.' (30) And he said, 'No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.' (31) He said to him, 'If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.'"

Luke 16:27-31 CEV . . .But the rich man said, "Abraham, then please send Lazarus to my father's home. (28) Let him warn my five brothers, so they won't come to this horrible place." (29) Abraham answered, "Your brothers can read what Moses and the prophets wrote. They should pay attention to that." (30) Then the rich man said, "No, that's not enough! If only someone from the dead would go to them, they would listen and turn to God." (31) So Abraham said, "If they won't pay attention to Moses and the prophets, they won't listen even to someone who comes back from the dead."

Luke 16:27-31 GNB . . .The rich man said, 'Then I beg you, father Abraham, send Lazarus to my father's house, (28) where I have five brothers. Let him go and warn them so that they, at least, will not come to this place of pain.' (29) Abraham said, 'Your brothers have Moses and the prophets to warn them; your brothers should listen to what they say.' (30) The rich man answered, 'That is not enough, father Abraham! But if someone were to rise from death and go to them, then they would turn from their sins.' (31) But Abraham said, 'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone were to rise from death.' "

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
