••• You should recognize and know "and use" God's Hebrew Name! It is יהוה and sounds like
to English speakers... God Himself wrote with his own finger on stone tablets He then gave to Moses. (Exo 31:18) Using the Diving Name of our Creator is a uniting force in this divided world! •••
Jonah 3:3-10 MWT . . .So Jonah arose and went to Nineveh, according to the word of יהוה. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, three days' journey across. (4) Jonah began to go into the city, going a day's journey. And he called out, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be destroyed!" (5) And the people of Nineveh believed God. They called for a fast and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them. (6) The word reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, removed his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. (7) And he issued a proclamation and published it through Nineveh, "By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything. Let them not feed or drink water, (8) but let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and let them call out mightily to God. Let everyone turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. (9) Who knows? God may turn back from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish." (10) When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.Jonah 3:3-10 LITV . . .And Jonah rose up and went to Nineveh according to the Word of Jehovah (יהוה). And Nineveh was a great city to God, of three days' journey. (4) And Jonah began to enter a day's journey into the city. And he cried out and said, Yet forty days and Nineveh shall be overturned! (5) And the men of Nineveh believed in God, and they called a fast and put on sackclothes, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. (6) And the word touched even to the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he took his robe from him and covered himself with sackcloth and sat on the ashes. (7) And he cried and said in Nineveh by the decree of the king and of his great ones, saying, Do not let man or beast, herd or flock, taste anything; do not let them feed nor let them drink water. (8) But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth. And let them call with strength to God. And let them each one turn from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. (9) Who knows? He may turn, and God may have pity and turn away from the glow of His anger, that we do not perish. (10) And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. And God was compassionate over the evil that He had spoken to do to them, and He did not do it.Jonah 3:3-10 GNB . . .So Jonah obeyed the LORD (יהוה) and went to Nineveh, a city so large that it took three days to walk through it. (4) Jonah started through the city, and after walking a whole day, he proclaimed, "In forty days Nineveh will be destroyed!" (5) The people of Nineveh believed God's message. So they decided that everyone should fast, and all the people, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth to show that they had repented. (6) When the king of Nineveh heard about it, he got up from his throne, took off his robe, put on sackcloth, and sat down in ashes. (7) He sent out a proclamation to the people of Nineveh: "This is an order from the king and his officials: No one is to eat anything; all persons, cattle, and sheep are forbidden to eat or drink. (8) All persons and animals must wear sackcloth. Everyone must pray earnestly to God and must give up their wicked behavior and their evil actions. (9) Perhaps God will change his mind; perhaps he will stop being angry, and we will not die!" (10) God saw what they did; he saw that they had given up their wicked behavior. So he changed his mind and did not punish them as he had said he would.Jonah 3:3-10 BBE . . .So Jonah got up and went to Nineveh as the Lord (יהוה) had said. Now Nineveh was a very great town, three days' journey from end to end. (4) And Jonah first of all went a day's journey into the town, and crying out said, In forty days destruction will overtake Nineveh. (5) And the people of Nineveh had belief in God; and a time was fixed for going without food, and they put on haircloth, from the greatest to the least. (6) And the word came to the king of Nineveh, and he got up from his seat of authority, and took off his robe, and covering himself with haircloth, took his seat in the dust. (7) And he had it given out in Nineveh, By the order of the king and his great men, no man or beast, herd or flock, is to have a taste of anything; let them have no food or water: (8) And let man and beast be covered with haircloth, and let them make strong prayers to God: and let everyone be turned from his evil way and the violent acts of their hands. (9) Who may say that God will not be turned, changing his purpose and turning away from his burning wrath, so that destruction may not overtake us? (10) And God saw what they did, how they were turned from their evil way; and God's purpose was changed as to the evil which he said he would do to them, and he did it not.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals. The Translations we quote are:
