John 11:11-13 LITV He said these things. And after this, He said to them, Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going that I may awaken him. (12) Then His disciples said, Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover. (13) But Jesus had spoken about his death, but they thought that He spoke of the sleep of slumber.

John 11:11-13 ESV After saying these things, he said to them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awaken him." (12) The disciples said to him, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover." (13) Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he meant taking rest in sleep.

John 11:11-13 GNB Jesus said this and then added, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I will go and wake him up." (12) The disciples answered, "If he is asleep, Lord, he will get well." (13) Jesus meant that Lazarus had died, but they thought he meant natural sleep.

John 11:11-13 GW After Jesus said this, he told his disciples, "Our friend Lazarus is sleeping, and I'm going to Bethany to wake him." (12) His disciples said to him, "Lord, if he's sleeping, he'll get well." (13) Jesus meant that Lazarus was dead, but the disciples thought Jesus meant that Lazarus was only sleeping.
