Jeremiah 17:12-18 MWT . . .Our holy place is a glorious throne, highly honored from the beginning. (13) O יהוה, the Hope of Israel, all who abandon you will be put to shame. Those who turn away from you will be written in dust to be blown away, because they abandon the Lord, the fountain of life-giving water. (14) Heal me, O יהוה, and I will be healed. Rescue me, and I will be rescued. You are the one I praise. (15) People keep asking me, "Where is the word of יהוה? Let it come." (16) I have not run away from being your shepherd, and I have not longed for the day of destruction. You know what came out of my mouth. (17) Do not terrorize me. You are my refuge on the day of disaster. (18) Put my persecutors to shame, but do not let me be put to shame. Terrify them, but do not let me be terrified. Bring the day of disaster on them, and destroy them completely.
Jeremiah 17:12-18 CEV . . .Our LORD (יהוה), your temple is a glorious throne that has stood on a mountain from the beginning. (13) You are a spring of water giving Israel life and hope. But if the people reject what you have told me, they will be swept away like words written in dust. (14) You, LORD (יהוה), are the one I praise. So heal me and rescue me! Then I will be completely well and perfectly safe. (15) The people of Judah say to me, "Jeremiah, you claimed to tell us what the LORD (יהוה) has said. So why hasn't it come true?" (16) Our LORD (יהוה), you chose me to care for your people, and that's what I have done. You know everything I have said, and I have never once asked you to punish them. (17) I trust you for protection in times of trouble, so don't frighten me. (18) Keep me from failure and disgrace, but make my enemies fail and be disgraced. Send destruction to make their worst fears come true.
Jeremiah 17:12-18 LITV . . .A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary. (13) O Jehovah (יהוה), the Hope of Israel, all who forsake You shall be ashamed. Those who depart from Me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken Jehovah (יהוה), the Fountain of living waters. (14) Heal me, O Jehovah (יהוה), and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved; for You are my praise. (15) Behold, they say to me, Where is the Word of Jehovah (יהוה)? Let it come now. (16) And I have not hurried away from shepherding after You, nor have I desired the woeful day. You surely know that the utterance of my lips was before Your face. (17) Do not be a terror to me; You are my refuge in the day of evil. (18) Let those who persecute me be ashamed, but do not let me be ashamed. Let them be terrified, but do not let me be terrified. Bring on them the day of evil, and break them with double breaking.
Jeremiah 17:12-18 GNB . . .Our Temple is like a glorious throne, standing on a high mountain from the beginning. (13) LORD (יהוה), you are Israel's hope; all who abandon you will be put to shame. They will disappear like names written in the dust, because they have abandoned you, the LORD (יהוה), the spring of fresh water. (14) LORD (יהוה), heal me and I will be completely well; rescue me and I will be perfectly safe. You are the one I praise! (15) The people say to me, "Where are those threats the LORD (יהוה) made against us? Let him carry them out now!" (16) But, LORD (יהוה), I never urged you to bring disaster on them; I did not wish a time of trouble for them. LORD (יהוה), you know this; you know what I have said. (17) Do not be a terror to me; you are my place of safety when trouble comes. (18) Bring disgrace on those who persecute me, but spare me, LORD (יהוה). Fill them with terror, but do not terrify me. Bring disaster on them and break them to pieces.
Jeremiah 17:12-18 ESV . . .A glorious throne set on high from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary. (18) Let those be put to shame who persecute me, but let me not be put to shame; let them be dismayed, but let me not be dismayed; bring upon them the day of disaster; destroy them with double destruction!

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals. The Translations we quote are:
