Genesis 32:24-32

This drama depicts Abraham's grandson's transformation from one grasping for blessings under the name Jacob, to one prevailing under God's blessings in the name of Isreal; he becoming the father of the nation chosen by God to produce God's Messiah or Christ. (Mat 1:1) His new name of Israel [meaning: Contender (Perseverer) with God] indicating God's blessing on Abraham's nation (Gen 22:15-18) through Jacob [or Israel]. Jacob's opponent was likely an angel, whose power must have been drastically limited by God, maybe based on Jacob's faith. [I personally wonder if it might have been, not a physical wrestling, but a verbal battle or discussion over spiritual matters. The hip injury might call that into question...] In any case, to bring their contest to an end, the angel touched Jacob's hip socked and put it out of joint. It caused a long term [I suspect minor] injury that reminded Israel all his first life [Will he still feel it when he's resurrected?...] of this wondrous meeting he had with יהוה. It became a reminder to the whole Nation of Israel... As a member of the "New Israel of God," is it a reminder for you? (Gal 3:26-29 of Gal 3:19-29)
Genesis 32:24-32 GW . . .So Jacob was left alone. Then a man wrestled with him until dawn. (25) When the man saw that he could not win against Jacob, he touched the socket of Jacob's hip so that it was dislocated as they wrestled. (26) Then the man said, "Let me go; it's almost dawn." But Jacob answered, "I won't let you go until you bless me." (27) So the man asked him, "What's your name?" "Jacob," he answered. (28) The man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob but Israel [He Struggles With God], because you have struggled with God and with men-and you have won." (29) Jacob said, "Please tell me your name." The man answered, "Why do you ask for my name?" Then he blessed Jacob there. (30) So Jacob named that place Peniel [Face of God], because he said, "I have seen God face to face, but my life was saved." (31) The sun rose as he passed Penuel. He was limping because of his hip. (32) (Therefore, even today the people of Israel do not eat the muscle of the thigh attached to the hip socket because God touched the socket of Jacob's hip at the muscle of the thigh.)

Genesis 32:24-32 CEV . . .Afterwards, Jacob went back and spent the rest of the night alone. A man came and fought with Jacob until just before daybreak. (25) When the man saw that he could not win, he struck Jacob on the hip and threw it out of joint. (26) They kept on wrestling until the man said, "Let go of me! It's almost daylight." "You can't go until you bless me," Jacob replied. (27) Then the man asked, "What is your name?" "Jacob," he answered. (28) The man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob. You have wrestled with God and with men, and you have won. That's why your name will be Israel." (29) Jacob said, "Now tell me your name." "Don't you know who I am?" he asked. And he blessed Jacob. (30) Jacob said, "I have seen God face to face, and I am still alive." So he named the place Peniel. (31) The sun was coming up as Jacob was leaving Peniel. He was limping because he had been struck on the hip, (32) and the muscle on his hip joint had been injured. That's why even today the people of Israel don't eat the hip muscle of any animal.

Genesis 32:24-32 ESV . . .And Jacob was left alone. And a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. (25) When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob's hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him. (26) Then he said, "Let me go, for the day has broken." But Jacob said, "I will not let you go unless you bless me." (27) And he said to him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Jacob." (28) Then he said, "Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed." (29) Then Jacob asked him, "Please tell me your name." But he said, "Why is it that you ask my name?" And there he blessed him. (30) So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying, "For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered." (31) The sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel, limping because of his hip. (32) Therefore to this day the people of Israel do not eat the sinew of the thigh that is on the hip socket, because he touched the socket of Jacob's hip on the sinew of the thigh.

Genesis 32:24-32 NWT . . .Finally Jacob was left by himself. Then a man began to grapple with him until the dawn ascended. 25 When he got to see that he had not prevailed over him, then he touched the socket of his thigh joint; and the socket of Jacob’s thigh joint got out of place during his grappling with him. 26 After that he said: “Let me go, for the dawn has ascended.” To this he said: “I am not going to let you go until you first bless me.” 27 So he said to him: “What is your name?” to which he said: “Jacob.” 28 Then he said: “Your name will no longer be called Jacob but Israel, for you have contended with God and with men so that you at last prevailed.” 29 In turn Jacob inquired and said: “Tell me, please, your name.” However, he said: “Why is it that you inquire for my name?” With that he blessed him there. 30 Hence Jacob called the name of the place Pe·ni´el, because, to quote him, “I have seen God face to face and yet my soul was delivered.” 31 And the sun began to flash upon him as soon as he passed by Pe·nu´el, but he was limping upon his thigh. 32 That is why the sons of Israel are not accustomed to eat the sinew of the thigh nerve, which is on the socket of the thigh joint, down to this day, because he touched the socket of Jacob’s thigh joint by the sinew of the thigh nerve.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
