Exodus 3:13-15 MWT . . .Nevertheless, Moses said to the [true] God: Suppose I am now come to the sons of Israel and I do say to them, The God of YOUR forefathers has sent me to YOU, and they do say to me, What is his name? What shall I say to them? (14) God said, “I am who I am".
["אהיה אשר אהיה" - Conveying at a very minimum: I will prove to be what I will prove to be!]
You must tell them: ‘The one who is called "I Am" [אהיה] has sent me to you.’” (15) God continued, “You must tell the Israelites that יהוה, the God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has sent you to them. This is my name forever; 'this is what all future generations are to call me.'” (16) “Go and gather the leaders of Israel together and tell them that יהוה, the God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has appeared to you. Tell them that he has come to you and has seen what the Egyptians are doing to them.”

Exodus 3:13-15 present a wondrous study on the "Nature" of God. In verse 14 God said He was "אהיה אשר אהיה". Think for a second to take special note of what that literally equates to. God said:
"I Am / I Will Become" - "who / which / that / what" - "I Am / I Will Become"...
Those three original Hebrew words convey all of that! God then says to tell Israel the one who is called אהיה has sent Moses to them; God thus telling Moses He is אהיה אשר אהיה, and that all of those words collapse into אהיה. So, using the English "I Am" to represent יהוה just seems weak and beggarly as it looses way too much in translation. A problem! The pronunciation of God's actual written Name of יהוה has been long lost! No one alive today knows how to say it. And, since יהוה warned many times about the sanctity of His Name and the danger of misusing it; (Exo 20:7; Lev 24:16; Deu 5:11) one might choose to wonder if using a name that is not really "His Name," might be dangerous... The sudamen אהיה himself gave us through Moses, however, is still commonly pronounced in our day in time. Referring to God as אהיה thus seems a respectful and appropriate way to speak to or about our Creator. This explanation by God seems an important part of His Nature. Your faith in all such matters is and/or reveals "your" nature! God cares and is listening... (Mal 3:16-4:3)

Exodus 3:13-15 CEV . . .Moses answered, "I will tell the people of Israel that the God their ancestors worshiped has sent me to them. But what should I say, if they ask me your name?" (14) God said to Moses: I am the eternal God. So tell them that the LORD  (יהוה), whose name is "I Am," [אהיה] has sent you. This is my name forever, and it is the name that people must use from now on. (15) (SEE 3:14)

What shall I say to them? 14 At this God said to Moses: I SHALL PROVE TO BE WHAT I SHALL PROVE TO BE. And he added: This is what you are to say to the sons of Israel, I SHALL PROVE TO BE has sent me to YOU. 15 Then God said once more to Moses: This is what you are to say to the sons of Israel, Jehovah  (יהוה) the God of YOUR forefathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, has sent me to YOU. This is my name to time indefinite, and this is the memorial of me to generation after generation.

Exodus 3:13-15 ESV ...Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" (14) God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And he said, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" (15) God also said to Moses, "Say this to the people of Israel, 'The LORD  (יהוה), the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.
