Acts 20:7-12 GNB On Saturday evening we gathered together for the fellowship meal. Paul spoke to the people and kept on speaking until midnight, since he was going to leave the next day. (8) Many lamps were burning in the upstairs room where we were meeting. (9) A young man named Eutychus was sitting in the window, and as Paul kept on talking, Eutychus got sleepier and sleepier, until he finally went sound asleep and fell from the third story to the ground. When they picked him up, he was dead. (10) But Paul went down and threw himself on him and hugged him. "Don't worry," he said, "he is still alive!" (11) Then he went back upstairs, broke bread, and ate. After talking with them for a long time, even until sunrise, Paul left. (12) They took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted.

Paul was discussing Scripture with the people. Since he intended to leave the next day, he kept talking until midnight. (8) (Many lamps were lit in the upstairs room where we were meeting.) (9) A young man named Eutychus was sitting in a window. As Paul was talking on and on, Eutychus was gradually falling asleep. Finally, overcome by sleep, he fell from the third story and was dead when they picked him up. (10) Paul went to him, took him into his arms, and said, "Don't worry! He's alive!" (11) Then Eutychus went upstairs again, broke the bread, and ate. Paul talked with the people for a long time, until sunrise, and then left. (12) The people took the boy home. They were greatly relieved that he was alive.

(8) In the upstairs room where we were meeting, there were a lot of lamps. (9) A young man by the name of Eutychus was sitting on a window sill. While Paul was speaking, the young man got very sleepy. Finally, he went to sleep and fell three floors all the way down to the ground. When they picked him up, he was dead. (10) Paul went down and bent over Eutychus. He took him in his arms and said, "Don't worry! He's alive." (11) After Paul had gone back upstairs, he broke bread, and ate with us. He then spoke until dawn and left. (12) Then the followers took the young man home alive and were very happy.

(9) And a certain young man named Eutychus was sitting on the window sill, being overborne by deep sleep, Paul reasoning for a longer time, having been overborne by the sleep, he fell down from the third floor and was taken up dead. (10) But going down Paul fell on him, and embracing him, he said, Do not be terrified, for his soul is in him. (11) And going up, and breaking bread, and tasting, and conversing over a long time, until daybreak, he went out thus. (12) And they brought the boy alive and were comforted not a little.
