At what is obviously the worst times in human history, (Luke 21:25-28) we still have the last wicked kings of the earth grandly asserting all is well and they are providing peace and security... (Dan 8:23-26; Dan 2:44)

1 Thessalonians 5:1-28 CEV   . . .I don't need to write you about the time or date when all this will happen. (Mat 24:3-8; Luke 21:25-28) (2) You surely know that the Lord's return will be as a thief coming at night. (3) People will think they are safe and secure [be saying there is peace and security]. But destruction will suddenly strike them like the pains of a woman about to give birth. And they won't escape. (4) My dear friends, you don't live in darkness, and so that day won't surprise you like a thief. (5) You belong to the light and live in the day. We don't live in the night or belong to the dark. (6) Others may sleep, but we should stay awake and be alert. (7) People sleep during the night, and some even get drunk. (8) But we belong to the day. So we must stay sober and let our faith and love be like a suit of armor. Our firm hope that we will be saved is our helmet. (9) God doesn't intend to punish us, but wants us to be saved by our Lord Jesus Christ. (10) Christ died for us, so that we could live with him, whether we are alive or dead when he comes. (11) That's why you must encourage and help each other, just as you are already doing. (12) My friends, we ask you to be thoughtful of your leaders who work hard and tell you how to live for the Lord. (13) Show them great respect and love because of their work. Try to get along with each other. (14) My friends, we beg you to warn anyone who isn't living right. Encourage anyone who feels left out, help all who are weak, and be patient with everyone. (15) Don't be hateful to people, just because they are hateful to you. Rather, be good to each other and to everyone else. (16) Always be joyful (17) and never stop praying. (18) Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do. (19) Don't turn away God's Spirit (20) or ignore prophecies. (21) Put everything to the test. Accept what is good (22) and don't have anything to do with evil. (23) I pray that God, who gives peace, will make you completely holy. And may your spirit, soul, and body be kept healthy and faultless until our Lord Jesus Christ returns. (24) The one who chose you can be trusted, and he will do this. (25) Friends, please pray for us. (26) Give the Lord's followers a warm greeting. (27) In the name of the Lord I beg you to read this letter to all his followers. (28) I pray that our Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you!

1 Thessalonians 5:1-28 ESV   . . .Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. (Mat 24:3-8; Luke 21:25-28) (2) For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. (3) While people are saying, "There is peace and security," then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. (4) But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. (5) For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. (6) So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. (7) For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. (8) But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. (9) For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, (10) who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. (11) Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. (12) We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, (13) and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. (14) And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. (15) See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. (16) Rejoice always, (17) pray without ceasing, (18) give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (19) Do not quench the Spirit. (20) Do not despise prophecies, (21) but test everything; hold fast what is good. (22) Abstain from every form of evil. (23) Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (24) He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. (25) Brothers, pray for us. (26) Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss. (27) I put you under oath before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers. (28) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

1 Thessalonians 5:1-28 GNB   . . .There is no need to write you, friends, about the times and occasions when these things will happen. (Mat 24:3-8; Luke 21:25-28) (2) For you yourselves know very well that the Day of the Lord will come as a thief comes at night. (3) When people say, "Everything is quiet and safe," then suddenly destruction will hit them! It will come as suddenly as the pains that come upon a woman in labor, and people will not escape. (4) But you, friends, are not in the darkness, and the Day should not take you by surprise like a thief. (5) All of you are people who belong to the light, who belong to the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. (6) So then, we should not be sleeping like the others; we should be awake and sober. (7) It is at night when people sleep; it is at night when they get drunk. (8) But we belong to the day, and we should be sober. We must wear faith and love as a breastplate, and our hope of salvation as a helmet. (9) God did not choose us to suffer his anger, but to possess salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, (10) who died for us in order that we might live together with him, whether we are alive or dead when he comes. (11) And so encourage one another and help one another, just as you are now doing. (12) We beg you, our friends, to pay proper respect to those who work among you, who guide and instruct you in the Christian life. (13) Treat them with the greatest respect and love because of the work they do. Be at peace among yourselves. (14) We urge you, our friends, to warn the idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. (15) See that no one pays back wrong for wrong, but at all times make it your aim to do good to one another and to all people. (16) Be joyful always, (17) pray at all times, (18) be thankful in all circumstances. This is what God wants from you in your life in union with Christ Jesus. (19) Do not restrain the Holy Spirit; (20) do not despise inspired messages. (21) Put all things to the test: keep what is good (22) and avoid every kind of evil. (23) May the God who gives us peace make you holy in every way and keep your whole being---spirit, soul, and body---free from every fault at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (24) He who calls you will do it, because he is faithful. (25) Pray also for us, friends. (26) Greet all the believers with the kiss of peace. (27) I urge you by the authority of the Lord to read this letter to all the believers. (28) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
